"Tampax"
South West London

Tampax was one of the legendary London Punk faces at the Roxy from 76 – well known for the tampon she wore in her ear.

Apart from the Roxy, she frequented London venues such as 100 Club, Speakeasy, Marque, Vortex, Music Machine and lived at the Belsize Park Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital squat until evicted.  Other favorite haunts were the Kings Road where she hung out with friends and the Road Rats in the top room at the Roebuck Pub.

A favourite muse of Captain Zip - many video clips can be found of her on You Tube.

She was also one of the many who regularly auditioned as replacement singer for The Damned and sung backing on one of Blitz’s tracks ‘I’m okay so sod you’.

Tampax eventually drifted into the rockabilly scene with the arrival of The Meteors and Cramps but in her own words to this day remains “always a punk at heart because no one can ‘be’ a punk – a punk is a reflection of the spirit which cannot be enslaved”.

She surfaced again at the Mud Club and Fridge.

She is still skanking.
