Hi

I just wanted to request an update and a correction to the information you have on the band called The Bears. There was a fourth line up which included myself on drums which lasted from early 1978 through to 1980 when the band finally split.

The line up then was :

John Entrails - vocals

George Gill - lead guitar

Tim - bass guitar

Phil Howstan - drums

In 1979 we tried to move into a more blues orientated sound and even experimented with some brass but it did not work and we eventually split in 1980.

I understand that there was a very short reunion in 1986 but that was it.

I did hear the sad news that Tim died in a motorbike accident in the 80's.

Hope you can update the entry for the Bears to add this information and if you have any information on how to get in touch with any other band members please let me know.

 Thanking you....

 Phil Howstan

Re:  The Bears on ‘Bored Teenagers’ web site

Great website you have there and excellent information about one of my favourite bands from Watford, The Bears.

I noticed on your site the e-mail posting from Phil Howstan wanting to get in touch with band mates and fans.  I am co-administrator of The Bears of Watford Face book site and would like to contact Phil Howstan to put him in touch with fellow band mates, fans, family and friends who are still the biggest Bears fans out there!  Lots of Bears news to tell as well.

Could you please tell me if Phil left a forwarding e-mail address or where I might be able to contact him?

Could you also please post the following entry on the site, under The Bears, for the following:

Looking to contact all band members of The Bears for official website construction and additional information on our Facebook site – The Bears of Watford.  Band mates, friends, family and fans all welcome to stop by and have a chat or reminisce or just well, praise the best punk band ever to come out of Watford in our humble opinions.  Please feel free to contact, by e-mail at, llwydcoed123@aol.co.uk.

 Kindest regards,

 Diane Taylor-Hungate

Hello

I was reading your history of The Bears. The third line up was Tim Brockett and the fourth was myself. Bob Brimson. I did about 10 gigs with them, George and I moved to London and it sort of petered out.

Tim was really a guitarist (he sadly died far too young) and he came round my house one night (i was playing in a band called the Funboy Five from Hemel and was a neighbour). He told me he was playing with Hemel band the Commuters that night, gave me a cassette of the Bears and said they would be round to pick me up for a gig in Greenwich in about an hour! I had never met them before and they were not too pleased, but it went alright as i joined that night. Good fun they were, but aside from George not totally committed to it.

Anyway.....

Regards,

Bob Brimson
